BURLINGTON, Vt. — Federal prosecutors in Vermont say a New York Police Department officer arrested for conspiring to distribute oxycodone in the state is due to appear in federal court in Burlington.
The Burlington Free Press reports that Andre Clarke was scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court Wednesday afternoon.
The 36-year-old Clarke – who has been an NYPD officer since 2002 – was arrested on Monday in Queens for conspiring to distribute oxycodone in Vermont from 2011 through June 2014.
A federal grand jury in Burlington handed down the multi-count indictment on July 7, charging Clarke, Michael Foreste and Dannis Hackney. Prosecutors say Clarke supplied oxycodone to Michael Foreste. He, in turn, supplied the pills to Dannis Hackney, who sold them in Burlington.
