The Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce announced that the “July 3rd in the Park” event was a resounding success for all involved. Visitors were treated to live entertainment, a variety of foods and fun activities for the children, according to a news release from the chamber. The lakeside park provided an ideal backdrop for the event and enticed visitors to come enjoy the beauty of the park and take advantage of all that the area nonprofits had to offer. Participating nonprofits had combined gross sales of about $10,000, according to the release.

The chamber collected donations earmarked specifically for the town of Rangeley’s fireworks fund. The chamber collected $80 in donations, a show of appreciation by those who came to the park at dusk for the fireworks display.

This was the first year of the renaissance of “July 3rd in the Park” tradition and the chamber hopes to grow the event next year, with even more of the nonprofit groups participating, providing additional variety for all visitors to enjoy.

Next up on the chamber’s slate of major summer events is the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, scheduled for Aug. 19 (rain date Aug. 21). This much-anticipated event promises to be the best tournament to date, with several new features (men’s/women’s mixed teams and a “golden” tee to name just a couple) that are sure to make the event a fun outing for all involved. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
