Former University of Maine men’s basketball standout Troy Barnies has signed a deal with Atomeromu SE Paks, Hungary’s ‘A’ division professional team in the European League.

Barnies will begin his fifth professional season after spending stints with four teams. Barnies started his professional career with Istanbulspor (Turkey) before moving on to play for the Salon Vilpas Vikings (Finland), BK Jekabpils (Latvia) and BK Ventspils (Latvia). Last season, Barnies, the second-leading scorer on his squad, guided BK Ventspils to a 20-2 season while averaging 11.2 points and 3.9 rebounds.

Barnies, a native of Auburn, played for the Black Bears from 2007-11, averaging 14.1 points and 7.6 rebounds in 110 games.
