A former adviser to Angus King when he served as Maine’s governor has been selected to lead the Federal Highway Administration.
Greg Nadeau has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the post. The announcement was made Thursday by King and fellow Sen. Susan Collins, who, as the chair of the transportation subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee, has recently worked with Nadeau on finding stable funding for the federal transportation budget.
Nadeau, a native of Lewiston, served as senior policy adviser to then-Gov. King from 1992 to 2002. He has served as the Federal Highway Administration’s deputy administrator since 2009.
Nadeau also served as the Maine Department of Transportation’s deputy commissioner for policy, planning and communications until 2009. He previously represented Lewiston in the Maine House of Representatives from 1978-1990.
He was nominated by President Barack Obama for the position of administrator on May 11.
