The L.C. Bates Museum will offer a free Train to be a Junior Guide for the museum from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 13. Those who are between the ages of 10 and 17 and love museums are encouraged to join the program.

Young people can learn to be a museum docent for three mornings in a row with fun hands-on tips and can look at behind the scenes wonders. They also can learn how to present a tour and greet visitors. Participants also can learn a little about care of the collection, too. The participants can explore careers in the museum field and can learn what fun museum work can be. And, maybe after the program, they might be interested in joining the engaging junior interns program.

The museum is dedicated to inspiring wonder, discovery and responsibility for people’s natural and cultural worlds through exhibitions and programs. For more information about the museum’s Junior Docent/Guide Training, contact the L.C. Bates Museum at Good Will-Hinckley at 238-4250 or lcbates@gwh.org. The museum is on US Route 201 in Hinckley, on the campus of Good Will-Hinckley. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday and other times by appointment.
