Augusta police have renewed their call for residents to lock their car doors after a series of burglaries in recent days.

Lt. Christopher Massey said the department on Tuesday morning received reports of six vehicles that were broken into. There have been a total of eight reports of car burglaries since Monday, Massey said.

All of the vehicles were unlocked at the time of the burglary, Massey said.

“We ask that people make sure their vehicles are locked, or at least that you don’t have valuables inside,” Massey said.

The burglaries have occurred across the city, though cars affected Tuesday were on the east side. The cars were parked on First and Windsor avenues, Sherbrook Street and Cony Road.

Massey asked anyone with information about the burglaries to call Augusta police at 626-2370.
