Independent Sen. Angus King and former Democratic Senate leader George Mitchell are hosting a forum to discuss the international nuclear deal with Iran.
King, who’s a member of the Senate Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, announced last week that he supports the agreement that’s meant to curb Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for lifting crippling international sanctions. Mitchell, who served as special peace envoy in the Middle East, also supports the deal.
The forum is being held Wednesday evening, Aug. 19, at the University of Southern Maine’s campus in Portland.
The event is sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Maine, the Mid-Coast Forum on Foreign Relations, the Maine Chapter of the United Nations Association.
