Twenty-one dancers from Dance Connection Dance Team in Fairfield competed July 13-18 at the Starquest World Finals in Virginia Beach. The five-day competition had approximately 1,000 entries. Team members also took classes from master enstructors during the week.

All eight of the teams entries received High Gold Placement. Overall placings were one 2nd, one 3rd, three 4ths, one 5th and one 6th. The team also received two special awards — “Smiles for Miles” for stage presence in a jazz routine Breakfree, and “Intensity” for their performance in a contemporary routine, Jungle.

One of the jazz routines, Dangerous, was one of 27 routines chosen to perform in a Dance Off. This was a separate competition held the day after the competition was completed. They received 2nd place in their category.
