Maine State Police are investigating the death of an Eastport man whose body was found Thursday night. They are calling the death suspicious.

Eastport police found the elderly man’s body in a house on Clark Street around 10 p.m. Thursday. Police had been called to the home to conduct a welfare check on the resident. A news release by the state police did not say whether the man whose body was found was also a resident of the house.

The man’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where an autopsy is being conducted.

State police detectives arrived in Eastport on Thursday night to investigate the death.

The man’s identity had not been released as of Friday night.
