WINSLOW — The Taconnet Falls Chapter of the Maine Genealogical Society Library will hold an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at 10 Lithgow St. Included will be a raffle drawing at 2 p.m., a book sale, and refreshments. Members present can help people begin the discovery of their family tree, advise with dating old family photos, and direct to resources, according to a news release form the society.

It is thought that as much as 95 percent of genealogical information is not yet available in electronic format. The TFC Library has abundant town histories and vital records and family genealogies, including French/Canada families. Maine Old Cemetery Association records also are located here as well as many unpublished family genealogies.

TFC Library’s monthly speakers for 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, will be Sonia and Wayne Mollar, who will present “McCobb’s Co. and the 74th Highland Foot Soldiers of Scotland via the Penobscot Expedition.”

TFC Library is open and free to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday.
