Future RSU 3 held its 12th annual golf tournament scramble on Sept. 1 at the Country View Golf Club in Brooks. Their corporate sponsor this year was Unitel, a business that has always been a big help with the tournament. The annual tournament is a fundraiser for Future RSU 3 and this year dedicated to the current project of building a multipurpose building which will include a snack bar, restrooms, first aid and trainer room, according to a news release from the group. The group has named it “The Stable.”

All participants were treated to a breakfast variety of pastries and coffee. Eleven teams participated this year which included two from the Mount View High School golf team. High school golfers included Ross Delorenzo, Austin Higgins, Darrell Roberts, Wesley Turner, Cassidy Gerrish, Kasey Roberts, Austin Albano and Joey Dana. In opening remarks given by Steve Bennett on behalf of Future, Mount View Coach Tozier was thanked for putting the teams together.

The fundraising group was appreciative of the fact that golf carts were donated for the day by the Country View Golf Club and several of its members.

The winning team of Greg Reid, Terry Whitcomb, Jim Mylen and Josh Trip had a combined Gross Score of 58. The team with the lowest Net score of 58 was Jordan Tozier, Jason Bosco, Chad Tozier and Craig Tozier (The Four Horsemen). Congratulations and a monetary prize was given to each individual in the winning teams.

Several contests were offered during the tournament, including Closest to the Pin, Longest Drive for Men and Women, a Chipping Contest, a Putting Contest and a 50/50 drawing. There was a hole in one challenge on number 9, but unfortunately no one sunk one.

Following the scramble, the Future Board members and volunteers served a barbecue luncheon.

The tournament concluded with the awarding of game winners and drawing of the 33 prizes donated by Future supporters. Along with Unitel’s sponsorship of the tournament, Future also received 36 hole sponsor donations.
