WINTHROP — Three different players scored as Winthrop picked up its first win of the season, a 3-1 decision over Dirigo in Mountain Valley Conference boys soccer action Saturday.

Derek McLaughlin, Tyler Nussinou and Jared McLaughlin each scored for the Ramblers (1-5-2). Jared Colby, Ben Boulay and Beau Brooks contributed with assists. Jackson Ladd stopped 10 shots.

Randy DeRoche scored an unassisted goal for Dirigo (1-6-0). Justin Grignon made eight saves.

VINALHAVEN 6, VALLEY 2: Ethan Anthony had a hat trick as the Vikings prevailed in Bingham.

Cody Hamilton scored twice for Vinalhaven (3-3-1) and Henry Noyes chipped in with a goal as well.

Collin Miller and Cody Laweryson each scored for Valley (2-6-0).

HYDE (CT.) 40, KENTS HILL 7: Hyde of Connecticut jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and rolled to victory in the season opener for both teams. Tory Brown scored Kents Hill’s touchdown on a 26-yard run in the fourth quarter.

GIRLS SOCCER

RICHMOND 4, SEARSPORT 0: Autumn Acord scored two goals and added an assist to lead the Bobcats on Friday in Searsport.

Meranda Martin added a goal and an assist for Richmond (6-1-0) while Emily Snowden had the other goal. Sydney Tilton made three saves.

Melinda Ogden stopped 10 shots for Searsport.

MONMOUTH 0, MT. ABRAM 0, OT: Abby Brackley made seven saves as the Roadrunners (1-4-2) and Mustangs played a scoreless MVC game. Mikayla Cameron made one save for Monmouth (5-0-1).

VINALHAVEN 5, VALLEY 2: Deja Doughty scored four goals to lead the Vikings to the East/West Conference win in Bingham.

Charlie Savoy and Hannah Hilton each scored for Valley. Gilleyanne Davis-Oakes made two saves for Vinalhaven. Goalies Samantha West and Kendra Sweet each had two saves for Valley.

FIELD HOCKEY

WATERVILLE 0, MARANACOOK 0: Colby Dangler made 15 saves as the Purple Panthers (1-5-1) salvaged a tie in KVAC B action in Waterville.

Kaitlyn Mason made six saves for the Black Bears.
