The Augusta Boys and Girls Club is in the Buker Center. It provides an after-school place that is safe and fun for middle and high school student. During the school day the club has an alternative-to-suspension program where students who have been suspended from school come for counseling and to do their school work. There is also a program coordinated with the Augusta Police Department to work with young first offenders. This program has been very successful with very few of the involved children having any further interactions with the police. A new program works with military families.
