WATERVILLE — McKayla Blanch scored the game’s only goal to lift the Colby College field hockey team to a 1-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference win over No. 14 Amherst College on Saturday at Bill Alfond Field.

The Mules only got four of their 11 shot attempts on goal but made the most of their opportunities. Blanch’s score came off a penalty corner at the 47:49 mark when she tipped in a shot on goal. Megan Fortier and Misha Strage picked up assists on the play.

Sarah Evans had 11 saves to pick up the shutout for Colby (7-5, 2-5 NESCAC), while Emily Horwitz finished with three saves for Amherst (7-4, 3-4 NESCAC).

THOMAS 5, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 0: Taylor Bergeron celebrated senior day with a hat trick as the Terriers downed the Pilgrims at Bernatchez Field.

Gardiner’s Abby Dunn and Brittany Ellis also scored goals for Thomas (7-8, 3-1 North Atlantic Conference). Michaela Clark had 21 saves for NEC (2-14, 0-4 NAC) in the loss.

UM-FARMINGTON 6, COLBY 3: Emmah Spahr, of Winthrop, notched a hat trick as UMF doubled up Colby-Sawyer in a NAC game in New London, New Hampshire.

Lindsey Whitney added a pair of goals for the Beavers (8-3, 3-1), while Patty Smith made four saves. Jordan Teixeira led Colby-Sawyer (7-7, 1-3) with two goals and an assist.

MEN’S SOCCER

THOMAS 3, HUSSON 2: The Terriers scored three goals in the final seven minutes to shock the Eagles at Smith Field in Waterville.

Adam Labrie scored in the 84th and 87th minutes off assists from Tre Ming and London Steede-Jackson, respectively, for Thomas (10-4, 6-1 NAC) before Josh Emard netted the game-winner with just 2:14 remaining. Labrie’s second score and Emard’s goal were separated by just 54 seconds.

Phil Frost gave Husson (7-4-1, 4-2 NAC) a 1-0 lead at the half thanks to his goal in the 29th minute and later doubled the Eagles’ advantage in the 51st minute off a feed from Josh Bean.

AMHERST 2, COLBY 0: Amherst outshot Colby 15-4 to blank the Mules in Waterville.

Nico Pascual-Leone and Greg Singer scored in the second half for the Lord Jeffs (12-0, 7-0), while Thomas Bull made two saves to record the shutout. John Pappas made seven saves for the Mules (3-7-2, 1-5-1).

DANIEL WEBSTER 1, UMF 0: Marco Viera-Filho scored early in the second half to give Daniel Webster a non-conference win over UMF in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Matt Wilson made 13 saves in net for the Beavers (4-8-2). Cooper Hall made three saves for Daniel Webster (12-3).

WOMEN’S SOCCER

HUSSON 1, THOMAS 0: Katey Curtis scored in the 84th minute off an assist from Maranacook Community High School graduate Hannah Clough as the Eagles prevailed in Waterville.

Kayla Gordon had four saves for Husson (6-7-1, 3-3-0 NAC), while Erskine grad Paige Leary stopped 13 shots for Thomas (6-8-0, 3-4-0 NAC).

AMHERST 2, COLBY 0: Hannah Guzzi and Eden Charles scored unassisted goals to lead Amherst in Waterville.

Holly Burwick needed three saves to preserve the shutout for the Lord Jeffs (8-2-1, 4-2-1). Samantha Rizzo stopped nine shots for the Mules (4-7-1, 0-6-1).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOSTON COLLEGE 4, MAINE 0: Meghann Treacy made 48 saves for the Black Bears in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Haley Skarupa led Boston College (5-0-0, 1-0-0 Women’s Hockey East) with two goals, while Meghan Grieves and Alex Carpenter each scored once. Maine fell to 1-4-0 (1-2-0 WHE).
