A Clinton man was arrested and charged with gross sexual assault of a minor Friday after a joint investigation by the Clinton Police Department and Maine State Police.

Adam Dyer, 28, of Clinton, was arrested Friday without incident and taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta, according to a news release Sunday from the Clinton Police Department.

The arrest followed a report that the Waterville Police Department received earlier in the week of a sexual assault that had occurred in Clinton, the release said. The complaint was turned over to the Clinton Police Department and a joint investigation with the Maine State Police began.

The investigation led to a search warrant executed Friday and Dyer’s arrest. The investigation is continuing and more charges are likely, the release said.
