The Maranacook String Band, a youthful folk/bluegrass band, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Mount Vernon Community Center.

Members include Stan Keach, band leader, who started the band as a gifted/talented education project when he was teaching at Maranacook Community School. Besides Keach, the original edition of the band featured Julie Churchill (now Davenport), and now 21, singer. Dan Simons, of Vienna, virtuoso mandolinist, joined the band a couple months after its 2009 inception. Dana Reynolds, 13, a current Maranacook seventh-grader, is a featured lead and harmony singer. Rounding out the band is Finn Woodruff, 16, of Brunswick, fiddle prodigy.

Donations will be accepted at the door. Refreshments will be available at intermission. For more information, call Keach at 397-2241.
