AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center has announced its September Students of the Month.

Renee Beaudoin is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. Bethany Sherman, her instructor, nominated Beaudoin because, “she represents the type of person that should be caring for our loved ones,” according to a release from the center. Beaudoin has enjoyed the program and is looking forward to beginning her clinical experience at Maine Veterans’ Home. She says she has always known she wanted to be a nurse because she likes taking care of people and spending time with the older people. She enjoys the older generation so much that she recently signed up for the SEARCH program through Erskine Academy, which matches her up with a grandparent to adopt. When Beaudoin is not in school, she might be playing lacrosse or working at the Quarry Tap Room. Upon graduation, Beaudoin plans to pursue postsecondary education at Kennebec Valley Community College with the goal of becoming a nurse.

Isaac Taylor is a senior from Erskine Academy enrolled for the second year in the Automotive Technology program. His instructor, Keith Hart, was very impressed with the way he came back this year. Hart said, “Isaac came back ready to learn and ready to work. He motivates others in class,” in the release. Taylor has taken on the role of one of the class’s team leaders. In this role, he leads a team of other automotive technology students. He came back to CATC for a second year because he likes the hands-on learning. This past summer, Taylor was employed by Lajoie Brothers. He works at Diesel Dan’s where he is working towards his State Inspection License. Upon graduation, Taylor plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College’s Line Worker program.
