The Harlow Gallery is celebrating with “Harloween,” a Halloween-themed, mini-exhibition event from Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 31, with a “Halloween” party/artist’s reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

Artists are invited to hang art work depicting or inspired by Halloween themes. Each artist may bring up to four works of art. Participating artists will install their own art works as space allows; first come, first served. All Maine artists welcome. There is no entry fee and membership is not necessary to participate.

All media are eligible, including fine crafts, original hand-pulled prints, photography and sculpture. No giclees or reproductions please, all work must be original.

Criteria: Any artworks that fit the Halloween theme are welcome; however, the Harlow Gallery reserves the right to deny any works deemed too violent, overly sexual or offensive for the public eye.

Commission: Art for sale is subject to our regular commission rate. The Harlow Gallery takes 35 percent for art sold on behalf of members, 50 percent nonmembers. Art may be shown as NFS (not for sale).

Eligibility: Artists should be residents of Maine at least part of the year or otherwise have a strong connection to our state. Artists submitting from out of state are responsible for the costs of shipping work to and from the Harlow Gallery should their work be selected for inclusion in the exhibition. Please note that return shipping will be actual cost plus $20 to cover staff time.

Media: All media welcome, including all 2D media, sculpture, photography, electronic art, installation, fine craft etc.

Original Work Only Please: Only original works will be admitted; photocopies, color, or computer generated copies of art are not acceptable for entry, including giclee reproductions. We prefer work created within the last five years.

Framing: If possible, two dimensional entries, with the exception of oils and acrylics, should be framed with either glass or plexiglass. Unframed canvases are fine, as long as they are gallery wrapped (no staples visible). Frames and canvases must be wired and ready to hang (ie. with two eye screws and steel wire). Saw-tooth hangers, “clip” frames or unstable frames cannot be accepted.
