AUGUSTA — One of two Waldoboro women arrested on drug charges last week in Pittston remained behind bars Monday at the Kennebec County jail.

Nichole Pranes, 40, is being held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail on three charges of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

A second woman, Destinee Smith, 19, who was in the same car with Pranes Thursday when they were stopped on Route 126, posted $200 bail. Smith is charged with one count of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and one count of violating conditions of release. She is scheduled for a hearing Dec. 28 in the Capital Judicial Center.

According to a news release from Stephen McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety, Maine State Troopers Chris Rogers and James Moore received a tip from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency that the occupants of the car had crack cocaine.

McCausland said troopers seized four grams of crack cocaine, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.

Pranes’ bail was set Friday by a judge following her initial appearance via video in the Capital Judicial Center. Her next court hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Feb. 2, 2016.
