RANGELEY — The Rangeley Friends of the Arts has reported they are more than halfway to meeting the challenge set by an anonymous donor, who offered to match up to $10,000 in local donations for building improvements for the RFA Lakeside Theater on Main Street, according to a news release from the organization.

Through local donations in 2015, $6,150 has been received to date to meet this challenge, which will be matched dollar for dollar. The work planned includes improvements to the theatrical lighting and sound, more storage, improved office space and lobby and concession area improvements.

Already, work has been completed in the lobby and concession areas. The lobby space can now be used as gallery exhibit space and for workshops and receptions and is available for rent by local organizations or individuals. There is a more ambitious and comprehensive plan which includes modernizing the sound system, installing professional theatrical lighting, improving building safety and re-working the existing projection room space. All of these improvements will mean more daytime and evening classes, workshops and a better space for live performances.

For information, or to make a donation, contact RFA, P.O. Box 333, Rangeley, ME 04970 or visit www.rangeleyarts.org.

The RFA is a nonprofit organization bringing the arts to life in the Rangeley Lakes Region.
