Waterville’s Christmas season got underway Friday night with the annual Parade of Lights and Kringleville opening.

The parade, which drew thousands of spectators downtown, ended at Castonguay Square, where the giant evergreen next to City Hall was lit in celebration of the season.

Kringleville, inside the REM Center on Castonguay Square, will be the home of Santa and Mrs. Claus most evenings and weekends until Christmas.

Santa Claus will hand out donated books, and other special activities are scheduled for the month.
