A New York woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiring to commit credit card fraud and faces up to five years in prison, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty III.

Xiu Fang Zhang, 21, along with accomplices, used counterfeit credit cards to buy thousands of dollars in merchandise from stores including Home Depot, Lowe’s, Bon-Ton, Rite Aid and Sears, the release said. She was paid by an accomplice for each purchase she made, the release said. Zhang used the fake cards to buy $7,500 in merchandise.

The woman will be sentenced following a pre-sentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Secret Service and the Auburn and South Portland police departments.
