Downtown Waterville is ready to welcome holiday visitors Saturday at the Downtown Waterville Open House.

Businesses downtown will offer special events and extended hours throughout the day.

Horse-drawn wagon rides will be available from noon to 2 p.m., beginning in Castonguay Square; and live reindeer will be in the square from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at Kringleville in The Center, 93 Main St., from noon to 3:30 p.m.

The Waterville Public Library also has free programs Saturday, including, Storytime Special: Get Ready to Move and Groove with Ms. Jenn, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Colby Program Room. There is a Holiday Cosplay Tea Party sponsored by the Maine Association of Cosplay Enthusiasts and Cirque du Geek, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the first-floor Barlett Teen Room. The library encourages those attending to “dress in your finest holiday cosplays — or just normal cosplay or not in cosplay; the more the merrier). The tea party is a potluck event, with MACE supplying the tea. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks to share. In cosplay, participants dress as characters from anime, manga or other cartoons or video games.
