FARMINGDALE — The Hall-Dale girls basketball team built a seven-point advantage by halftime and held on by the same margin for a 59-52 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Mt. Abram at Penny Memorial Gymnasium.
Dani Sweet led the way for the Bulldogs (2-2) with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds. Kayla Johnson had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Sabrina Freeman chipped in with five points and four blocks.
Summer Ross paced Mt. Abram (1-4) with 16 points, Alora Ross added 13, Megan Sorel notched 11 and Marya Beedy chipped in with nine.
OAK HILL 41, WINTHROP 32: Grace Sabine scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Raiders raced past the Ramblers for a MVC win in Wales.
Abby Nadeau added nine points and seven rebounds for Oak Hill (3-1), who took a 15-2 lead into the second quarter.
Shie Smith was the top scorer for Winthrop (0-4) with eight points.
RICHMOND 48, SEARSPORT 30: Sydney Tilton had 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead the Bobcats to the win in Searsport.
Kelsea Annair added 11 points and six assists for Richmond (4-0) while Meranda Martin hauled in 10 rebounds.
Searsport (2-2) was led by Melinda Ogden with 16 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
HALL-DALE 70, MT. ABRAM 34: Ashton Abbott led four Bulldogs in double figures with 13 points as Hall-Dale (3-1) picked up a MVC win over the Roadrunners in Salem.
Tyler Nadeau added 12 points for the Bulldogs, while Alec Byron and Quinn Stebbins each finished with 11.
Dan Luce had 10 points for Mt. Abram (1-3), while Finley Mackay and Luke Romanoski chipped in with eight apiece.
WINCHENDON 51, KENTS HILL 44: Trevor Guity scored 16 points but it was not enough as the Huskies fell at home. Tory Brown added 12 points for Kents Hill (1-3) while Darius Hinds and Luke Arsenault had eight points apiece. Winchendon is now 2-0.
RICHMOND 56, SEARSPORT 53: Tyler Soucy’s 3-pointer beat the buzzer and gave Richmond a come-from-behind win over Searsport in Searsport.
Soucy finished with seven points and four key steals for the Bobcats (3-0). Matt Holt scored a team-high 22 points and Zach Small added 13 points and 11 rebounds. Barrett Grant had a game-high 25 points for the Vikings (2-2), who made 11 3-pointers in the game.
BOYS HOCKEY
CONY/MONMOUTH/HD 5, MASSABESIC/OOB/BONNY EAGLE 1: Five different players scored to lead a balanced attack as the Rams earned the win at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
Riley Dow, Riley Boivin, Reid Hopkins, Avery Pomerleau and Logan Ledbetter each scored a goal for Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale (2-1). Dalton Bowie made 13 saves. Cole Lockhart, Anthony Brunelle, Cam Wilson, Tyler Dostie, Boivin and Pomerleau chipped in an assist each.
Cam Roy scored for Massabesic/Old Orchard/Bonny Eagle. Kyle McCoy stopped 15 shots.
GARDINER 4, SOUTH PORTLAND 2: Tristan Hebert, Reid Cotnoir, Ryan Kelley and Warren Karlberg each scored a goal to lift the Tigers to the win in Gorham.
Jake Folsom and Sloan Berthiaume added an assist each for Gardiner (1-2-0).
Max Winner scored off an assist from Ian Young for South Portland (1-2-0).
