PRESQUE ISLE — The Thomas College women’s basketball team closed out the first part of their season with a 55-45 win over the University of Maine at Presque Isle on Sunday.
Waterville graduate Ashleigh Gagne led all scorers with 15 points for Thomas (2-6) while Gardiner grad Katie McAllister added 12 off the bench. Tess McClenahan just missed out on a double-double with eight points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Taylor Johnson, a Skowhegan graduate, poured in nine points.
UMPI (0-9) was led by Amanda Hotham with 12 points and 13 rebounds and Sydney Churchill with 10 points.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
THOMAS 69, UMPI 45: Tyheem Simon scored a game-high 23 points to spark the visiting Terriers to the win.
Mike Akanji added 13 points for Thomas (5-5) while Carlos Gonzalez chipped in with 11.
UMPI (4-7) was led by Kevin Collins with 11 points.
