KINGFIELD — A tractor-trailer carrying wood chips rolled over Tuesday morning on Route 27 near the Carrabassett Valley town line.

Truck driver Nathan Clement, 56, of Corinth, was driving north in a 2007 Kenworth tractor-trailer when he swerved to avoid a vehicle approaching him that was hugging the center line, according to a news release from Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Clement swerved to the right to avoid the oncoming vehicle, drove onto the soft shoulder of the road and rolled over, spilling his load of chips, Nichols said. There were no passengers in the truck and no injuries were reported in the accident, Nichols added.

Clement was hauling the chips for JJ Raymond Transport, of Dover-Foxcroft, Nichols said.

The Kingfield and Carrabassett Valley fire departments and the Maine Department of Transportation were called to the scene to assist with traffic control and cleaning up spilled diesel fuel, Nichols said.
