AUGUSTA — Capital Area Technical Center has announce the December Students of the Month.

Orion Seraph is a senior from Gardiner Area High School enrolled in the Certified Nursing Assistant program. He has enjoyed the hands-on clinical experiences of the class that has been at the Maine Veterans’ Home and Augusta Rehabilitation. A highlight of the clinical experiences for Orion has been being able to develop personal relationships with the clients.

His instructor, Karen Parker said, “Orion is an amazing student that excels in both the clinical and classroom setting. He is a team player, safety conscious and always willing to go the extra mile for his parents and peers. He will make a fine addition to the medical field.”

Seraph was a captain of the Gardiner football team this fall, and will play lacrosse this spring. In the future, he plans to pursue a career in physical therapy.

Cyndyl Jones is a senior from Gardiner Area High School enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. She has enjoyed the opportunities in the Culinary Arts program, such as being able to work through a recipe multiple times to perfect it. Through the program, she has earned her Serve-Safe certification. Jones has always had an interest in cooking and last year performed 95 1/2 community service hours at the Gardiner Area High School nutrition program.

Her instructor, Chef Charles Izzi, said, “I love the enthusiasm Cyndyl brings to class every day. She comes ready to work every day and is willing to take initiative in class projects.”

In the fall, she plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College and study culinary arts.
