AUGUSTA — The Howard’s & Savage’s Companies of Old Fort Western will host its first meeting from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in the Learning Gallery on the first floor of City Center.

The companies are educational and living history units based out of and in association with Old Fort Western. They are dedicated to preserving and promoting Old Fort Western by demonstrating and interpreting the military history and experiences of its military forces during the French & Indian War years of 1754-67 and the Revolutionary War years of 1778-79.

All able bodied men and women who have a desire to learn about the history of Fort Western and the Kennebec River during the 18th century are welcome to attend the meeting and be considered for membership.
