To quote Dr. Seuss: “I said what I meant, and I meant what I said…”

Gov. Paul LePage characterized his racist remarks as a “slip of the tongue.” Please. Remember the quaint phrase “a Freudian slip”? It was used to excuse accidentally verbalizing thoughts and/or beliefs that we wished to keep to ourselves.

The frightening thing is the number of those who have defended and voiced unconcern and concord with what was said. Censure is not enough. It’s long past time to remove this embarrassment of Paul LePage from the governor’s office.
