A Troy woman has been charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly attacked another woman by punching her, dragging her by her hair and strangling her, police said.

Robin Randall, 53, also was charged with violating conditions of release in connection with the Wednesday night incident, according to a news release Friday from the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s office was contacted at 8:18 p.m. Wednesday about a reported assault at a Bagley Hill Road residence, where both Randall and the victim live. The victim told the responding officers — Deputy Jon Shaw and Sgt. Jim Greeley — that she had gotten into an argument about a family matter with Randall, who became upset and attacked her. Randall allegedly “began to drag her by her hair, punch her,” and the victim alleged that Randall “used her hands to choke her during the assault,” according to the release.

Police said the victim was not taken to the hospital.

Sheriff’s deputies investigated and charged Randall with a class C count of aggravated assault and violation of conditions of release. Randall was taken to the Waldo County jail in Belfast, where she was being held without bail.

Randall also was held on a motion to revoke bail on other pending charges that had been filed in Hancock County, according to the release.
