Two brothers from Hallowell were injured early Wednesday when their 2003 pickup truck went out of control on Town Farm Road and struck a tree head-on, police said.

Hallowell police Chief Eric Nason said the driver, Jordan Dailey, 23, was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and then to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he was listed in critical condition later Wednesday.

Nason said he was told that Dailey’s injuries were life-threatening.

Jeremy Dailey, 18, the passenger, also was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center. Nason said the younger Dailey appeared to have serious injuries. A hospital spokesperson said Wednesday evening that he had been treated and released.

“The road conditions were slightly icy this morning in that area,” Nason said, adding that it appears the driver was driving too fast for road conditions.

The crash was reported at 7:41 a.m.

“We do not suspect alcohol at this point,” Nason said.
