AUGUSTA — Sen. Roger Katz, R-Augusta, recently was presented with the American Legion Legislator of the Year Award.

On behalf of the Department of Maine, the award was given by Past American Legion National Vice Cmdr. William Ciciotti, District 9 Cmdr. Donald Chase and Post 2 American Legion Cmdr. Patrick Eisenhart.

Upon receiving the award, the Katz said, “I am glad to be in a position to help our veterans who have sacrificed so much to defend our way of life here in Maine and America.”

Katz was first elected to the Maine State Senate in 2010 after serving from 2006 to 2010 as mayor of Augusta. He is chairman of the Legislature’s Government Oversight Committee and also serves as a member of the Appropriations Committee.
