HALLOWELL — The 13th annual Young at Art 2016 exhibition of children’s artwork will be on display Feb. 20 through March 19 at Harlow Gallery, 160 Water St. Area students in grades kindergarten through eighth will have their work on display in the professional setting. Each year the gallery invites art teachers fthroughout the greater Augusta area to select their best student art to showcase in this celebration of talented young artists and of the importance of arts in education.

The public is invited to celebrate the youngest artists in our community — families with children are especially encouraged to attend.

An opening reception is set for 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20. Due to the high volume of visitors for this show it is requested that participating artists and their families attend according to the following schedule. Families with more than one artist participating can choose to attend whichever time works best for them. Visitors not affiliated with a participating artist are welcome anytime: artists in kindergarten, first or second grade are encouraged to attend between 10 a.m. and noon; artists in third, fourth or fifth grade are encouraged to attend between noon and 2 p.m.; and artists in sixth, seventh or eighth grade are encouraged to attend between 2 and 4 p.m.

Participating schools are: Farrington Elementary School, Lincoln School, Hussey Elementary School, Silvio Gilbert Elementary School, all in Augusta; Chelsea Elementary in Chelsea; Hall-Dale Middle School in Farmingdale; Gardiner Regional Middle School and Laura E. Richards School, both in Gardiner; Riverview Elementary School in South Gardiner; Helen Thompson School in West Gardiner; Hall-Dale Elementary School in Hallowell; Monmouth Elementary School and Monmouth Middle School, both in Monmouth; Mount Vernon Elementary School in Mt Vernon; Palermo Consolidated Schools in Palermo; Pittston Consolidated Schools in Pittston; Teresa Hamlin School in Randolph; Maranacook Middle School and Readfield Elementary, both in Readfield; Marcia Buker Elementary School and Richmond Middle School, both in Richmond; Albert S.
