A growing number of music industry superstars are rallying behind pop diva Kesha in her ongoing legal battle to escape a recording contract with the producer she says sexually assaulted her.

On Wednesday, Adele became the latest A-list celeb – joining Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift, to name a few – to stand in solidarity with Kesha, after winning Best Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards in London.

“I’d like to take a quick second just to thank my management and my record label for embracing the fact that I’m a woman and being encouraged by it, and I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha,” she said, raising her award into the air.

Adele’s words came just hours after Kesha posted a note of thanks on her Facebook page telling her supporters that her lawsuit has profound implications for all victims of sexual abuse.

“I think about young girls today – I don’t want my future daughter – or your daughter – or any person to be afraid that they will be punished if they speak out about being abused, especially if their abuser is in a position of power,” Kesha wrote. “Unfortunately I don’t think that my case is giving people who have been abused confidence that they can speak out, and that’s a problem.”

The 28-year-old singer, whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert, filed suit against producer Lukasz Gottwald, 42, better known as Dr. Luke, in October 2014, claiming that he drugged and raped her, and subjected her to prolonged psychological and emotional abuse that ultimately fueled a serious eating disorder.

Legally bound to produce her next six records with Dr. Luke, the head of Sony Music-owned Kemosabe Records, Kesha asked the court to release her from her contract.
