HALLOWELL — Singer songwriter Tret Fure will perform a CD release concert at 8:15 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Slate’s Restaurant, 167 Water St. The show will feature the new release “Rembrandt Afternoons” along with a few old favorites.

The album showcases Fure’s songwriting and strong voice. Highlights on the album includes “Freedom,” the ballad “The Fishermen of Bristol Bay” and the song about overcoming loss, “How We Dare.” With an acoustic guitar and her voice, Fure effortlessly moves between musical styles including folk, blues and even a bit of rock and roll.

Though best known in past few decades in the folk and women’s music world, she started her career at 16 performing in coffee houses and on college campuses, and spent the early 70s touring with Spencer Davis as his guitarist and vocalist, releasing a solo album produced by Lowell George of Little Feat, and opening for, Poco and the J. Geils Band.

Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased by calling 622-9575 or visit www.slatesrestaurant.com.
