MADISON — No one was injured severely when an SUV carrying a woman, her toddler and their dog rolled over Wednesday morning after the woman lost control of the vehicle on slippery the road and it rolled off the road and struck a tree.

Emily Torrick, 36, of Jackman, was traveling south on Lakewood Road, which is U.S. Route 201, when she lost control of the 2015 Toyota 4-Runner she was driving, said Cpl. Gene Cole, of the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. Torrick’s 3-year-old daughter and their dog were in the SUV.

A coating of snow and ice on local roads Wednesday morning made traveling treacherous, Cole said. “The road conditions were definitely a factor in this,” he said.

The SUV rolled over and landed on its roof off the right side of the road, striking a tree, he said.

Torrick hurt her shoulder and was taken to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for evaluation, Cole said.
