WINSLOW — Jacob Varney and Joey Kingsbury scored eight points apiece to lead Winslow to a 43-28 win over Nokomis in the unified basketball tournament North preliminary round on Friday.

Taylor Libby and Roy Greenleaf added six points each for the second-seeded Black Raiders. Michael Toule led all scorers with 16 points for the 15th-seeded Warriors, while Ashley Norris added eight points. Winslow advances to face No. 7 Oceanside in the quarterfinals next Tuesday.

No. 7 OCEANSIDE 36, No. 10 WATERVILLE 32: Zachary Villano scored 12 points to lead seventh-seeded Oceanside to victory over 10th-seeded Waterville in a preliminary round game in Thomaston.

Adrieanna Stowe chipped in with six points for the Mariners. Joseph Libby-Cornette led the Purple Panthers with 16 points, while Nick Belanger added eight points.

No. 5 MESSALONSKEE 60, No. 12 HALL-DALE 44: Mark Cote and Shawn McIntyre paced a balanced scoring attack to lift fifth-seeded Messalonskee to a preliminary triumph over 12th-seeded Hall-Dale in Oakland.

Tyler Elkins added eight points for the Eagles. Eric Lombard led the Bulldogs with 10 points, while Angelica Lamoreau added eight points.

NO. 4 OAK HILL 54, NO. 13 CARRABEC 42: Devon Fournier scored 18 points to lead the Raiders to the win in Wales.

Josh Leavitt and Lee Moore added 12 points apiece for Oak Hill.

Carrabec was led by Katlin Theakis with 18 points and Corey Miller with 14.
