Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with breaking in to a store and stealing liquor and cigarettes in Mount Vernon Thursday night, authorities said Sunday.

Eric Clark, 19, of Vienna, and a 16-year-old Farmington boy were arrested at a home in Greene Saturday night and charged with burglary and other charges related to the break-in at the Flying Pond Variety store on Pond Road, according to a news release Sunday from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

McCausland said the pair, who are alleged to have stolen four bottles of liquor and about a dozen packs of cigarettes, were charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and illegal transportation of liquor by a minor.

Clark was taken to the Kennebec County jail in Augusta and the Farmington teen was brought to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in Portland, McCausland said.

Authorities have identified a third person allegedly involved in the burglary and are continuing to search for him. A teenage girl who was allegedly in the car during the burglary has also been identified, but no decision has been made whether she will face charges, McCausland said.

Maine State Police posted surveillance photos to its Facebook page and released the photos to the media Friday and received dozens of tips. McCausland said Clark and the minor boy were wearing the same clothes shown on the surveillance footage from the convenience store at the time of their arrest.

The trio allegedly entered the store by smashing the window in the front door at about 10 p.m. Thursday night. One of those arrested had numerous cuts on his forearm, according to trooper Jesse Duda, who responded to the initial report.
