A Winslow High School student has been charged in connection with a Friday bomb scare at the school.

Brandon Ward, 18, of Winslow, is charged with class C terrorizing, according to a news release from Chief Shawn O’Leary, of the Winslow Police Department.

Ward allegedly reported to the school’s office that there was a threat written on the wall in the boys’ restroom around 8:45 a.m. Friday, the release said.

The school was evacuated and searched by law enforcement and dogs from the Maine State Police. The school was deemed safe and students returned to the building at 10:45 a.m. Friday.

Over the weekend, investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the school and determined that Ward had written the message on the bathroom wall.

He is scheduled to appear June 27 in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta for an arraignment.
