A Waterville man pleaded not guilty on Monday to an indictment charging him with sexual abuse of a minor who was between 14 or 16 years old at the time the alleged abuse occurred.

Patrick A. Malloy, 37, was indicted on the charge on March 24, but it was sealed until his arrest Friday morning. The charge says the offense occurred June 28, 2015, in Waterville.

Judge Eric Walker arraigned Malloy on the charge Monday via video from the Kennebec County jail.

Walker set bail at $2,500 cash with conditions as recommended by the district attorney, which include a prohibition on contact with the victim and three other individuals as well as a ban on contract with children under 18.

Walker said the bail could be argued again once Malloy had an attorney.
