A Carthage man has been charged with possessing child pornography after police seized his computer last week.

Nicholas Henry, 31, of 32 White St., was arrested Monday by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and charged with possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12.

He was arrested after meeting with investigators at the state police barracks in Gray, according to a news release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Investigators seized Henry’s computer last week from his home after getting a tip and found thousands of images of young girls, according to the release.

Henry was taken to the Franklin County Jail, where bail was set at $500, the release said. He is due to appear in court May 24.

An investigator from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s office in Maine helped the computer crimes unit, the release said.
