AUGUSTA — Crisis & Counseling Centers seeks visual art submissions to be presented at the agency’s Annual Celebration & Art Reception as a gesture of support for community members facing behavioral health needs. Individuals of any age are welcome to submit art for consideration, with preference given to work that relates to the event’s 2016 theme, “Celebrating Family,” according to a news release from C&C.

The agency displays local art to the community with the hope of promoting the therapeutic benefits of creativity. Participating artists will receive exposure to more than 120 people who typically attend the event, including business leaders, legislators, agency heads, families and others. After the event, all artwork will be returned to the artist; artists will receive no monetary compensation for displaying their work.

For submission guidelines and additional information, visit crisisandcounseling.org or call 213-4523. Pictures of the art should be submitted to cyeager@crisisandcounseling.org by April 15 for consideration.

The agency’s Annual Celebration & Art Reception will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Governor Hill Mansion in Augusta. This year C&C will honor its family focused programs, including G.E.A.R. Parent Network, Generations youth and family counseling and Maine Mothers Network. Artists, as well as community members, are welcome to attend.

Crisis & Counseling Centers is an Augusta-based nonprofit serving individuals with behavioral health needs, including substance abuse, mental health and co-occurring disorders. In addition, the agency is the sole provider of crisis services for Kennebec and Somerset counties. The agency also offers G.E.A.R.
