KENTS HILL — Ty Smith had five goals and three assists as the Maranacook/Winthrop boys lacrosse team rolled to a 19-5 win over Oak Hill in a game played at Kents Hill School.

Tyler Nussinow added five goals and an assist for the Hawks (1-0), who led 12-1 at the half. Kyle Morand finished with three goals and two assists in the win, while Bailey Stockford recorded two goals and three assists.

Steven Gilbert had three goals to lead Oak Hill (0-1) and Marcus Bailey scored twice.

LINCOLN 7, MT. BLUE 6: Nate Simmons had a hand in each of the Eagles’ seven goals in a win in Newcastle.

Simmons finished with six goals and an assist for Lincoln (1-0), Brandon Barter added a goal and an assist and Henry Deoffrione made 10 saves in goal.

Cordell Ellis paced Mt. Blue (0-1) with two goals and an assist while Alex Gilbert made 14 saves in goal.

LEWISTON 16, MESSALONSKEE 7: The Blue Devils built a 10-4 lead by halftime and never looked back to pick up a win in Lewiston.

Gunnar Wade paced Lewiston (1-0) with five goals, while Griffin Wade and James McBride scored three goals each.

Connor Smith scored three goals for Messalonskee (0-1) while Austin Pelletier finished with two goals and three assists.

CAMDEN HILLS 12, ERSKINE 4: Jonah Cameron had a hat trick to lead the Windjammers to the Class B win in South China.

Thomas Griebel added two goals and two assists for Camden Hills (1-0) while Calvin Cameron had two goals and an assist.

Caleb Tyler scored twice for Erskine (0-1). Seth Reed and Chance Reed also scored. Jake Peavey made 19 saves.

GARDINER 14, MORSE 11: The Tigers erased a 10-8, third-quarter deficit to earn a come-from behind win in Bath.

Sloan Berthiaume led the way for Gardiner (1-0) with five goals and one assist. Logan Clark added four goals in the win while Tristan Hebert chipped in with two goals and an assist.

Cameron Marco paced Morse (0-1) with four goals.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

USM 9, ST. JOSEPH’S 8: Winning pitcher Jake Dexter scored the winning run on a bases-loaded catcher’s interference call in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Huskies rallied past the Monks in a Division III non-conference baseball game.

USM trailed 6-3 and 8-5 but rallied to tie the game with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. Sam Dexter led off that inning with a home run while Brandon Martins had an RBI single and Nick DiBiase a game-tying triple.

In the bottom of the eighth, Jake Dexter led off with a walk. Following an out, Paul McDonough singled off the third baseman’s leg, with Jake Dexter going to third. The Monks then intentionally walked Sam Dexter to load the bases.

On a 1-2 pitch, Sam Stauble swung at a high pitch, fouling it off. But it was called catcher’s interference and Stauble was awarded first, with Jake Dexter scoring.

Jake Dexter, who entered the game in the eighth as a reliever, gave up a walk but got the three outs in the top of the ninth for the win.

It was USM’s ninth consecutive win and improved the Huskies to 16-5. St. Joe’s dropped to 12-9.
