Dr. Shaw Memorial Library’s annual bird walk around Mt. Vernon village is set for 4 p.m. Monday, May 16.

Along with lead birders, Dona Seegers and Linda Smith, participants can watch for song birds, water birds, birds of prey, whatever is flying, perched in a tree, or gliding on water.

Bring a pair of binoculars if available, a notebook and pen to record sightings, and wear comfortable shoes. Long sleeves and a hat will protect against black flies.

The walk usually takes about an hour.
