A number of community members were honored at the Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center’s meeting held April 14. Peter McAvoy Sr., of Oakland, and Lake Mary, of Florida, was presented with the Peter McAvoy Champion of Children Award in honor of his support and commitment to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Kennebec and Somerset counties.

Augusta Police Detective and Child Forensic Interviewer Tori Tracy was presented the Guiding Light Award in honor of her support in helping victims of sexual violence.

Susan MacMaster Beaulieu, longtime victim advocate, was presented the Advocate Extraordinaire Award in honor of her 12 years of support and advocacy of individuals impacted by sexual violence.

Prior to the awards ceremony, area officials gathered to sign the Memorandum of Understanding: the Kennebec/Somerset Children’s Advocacy Center’s Interagency Agreement with the organization’s multi-disciplinary team. These team members include DHHS, local law enforcement, medical partners and mental health professionals. Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center celebrated the evening with the unveiling of its new Children’s Advocacy Center’s informational video, highlighting the focal point of the evening.
