AUGUSTA — Zach Charest and Taylor Heath drove home the tying and winning runs, respectively, in the sixth inning as the Cony baseball team rallied to defeat Mt. Blue 5-3 in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Friday.

Kolbe Merfeld struck out four and walked two to pick up the victory on the mound for the Rams (2-3). Ethan Andrews had a double for the Cougars (0-5).

MONMOUTH 10, HALL-DALE 3: Avery Pomerleau had three hits as the Mustangs (4-0) reigned in a battle of Mountain Valley Conference unbeatens.

Nick Sanborn worked the first five innings to earn the win for Monmouth, which pounded out 10 hits, all of them singles.

Hall-Dale (3-1) got doubles from Cole Lockhart, Tyler Nadeau and Tyler Dubois.

ERSKINE 10, MCI 0: Cody Taylor had three hits, including a double, to lead Erskine in a KVAC Class B shutout of Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield.

Jake Suga also doubled for the Eagles (3-1). Noah Bonsant and Nate Howard combined on the mound to limit MCI (0-4) to three hits.

WINTHROP 18, BOOTHBAY 0, 5 innings: Jackson Ladd went 5-for-5 with a home run and a double and Antonio Meucci allowed one hit as the Ramblers blanked the Seahawks in Boothbay.

Bennett Brooks went 3-for-3 with a triple and Meucci ripped two doubles for the Ramblers (1-2). On the mound, Meucci faced the minimum 15 batters in five innings, allowing only a single where the runner was thrown out attempting to stretch it into a double.

SOFTBALL

MESSALONSKEE 7, LAWRENCE 0: McKenzie Charest and Sarah Labbe each drove in a pair of runs for the unbeaten Eagles (5-0) in Oakland.

Madisyn Charest and Taylor Easler each added a pair of singles in the win, while Kirsten Pelletier struck out 12 to earn the victory.

Lawrence dropped to 2-3 on the season.

OAK HILL 2, DIRIGO 0: The Raiders scored two runs in the sixth inning, one on a Grace Sabine RBI single, to break a scoreless game and pull out the MVC victory in Dixfield.

Makayla Nadeau struck out six and allowed just three hits to earn her third shutout of the season for Oak Hill (3-1).

Dirigo dropped to 2-2.

HALL-DALE 10, MONMOUTH 1: The Bulldogs took advantage of seven Mustang errors to pick up an MVC win in Farmingdale.

Jill Whynot had a single, triple and three RBIs to pace Hall-Dale (3-1) while Isabella Marino had two hits as well. Becca Ackerson picked up the win in the circle, going all seven innings while allowing three hits and three walks while striking out 12.

Mikayla Cameron, Emily Chasse and Emily Kaplan each singled for Monmouth (1-3).

CONY 9, MT. BLUE 7: Cony survived nine errors thanks to six extra base hits and held on to defeat Mt. Blue in a KVAC A game in Farmington.

Haley Ward and Cassidy Turgeon each doubled twice, while Skyler Watson doubled and Autumn Sudsbury hit a two-run homer for the Rams (4-1). Kayleigh Fontaine and Lauren Guppy had a double apiece for the Cougars (2-3).

BOYS LACROSSE

LAWRENCE 7, ERSKINE 5: Gunner McAllister poured in three goals and two assists to lead the Bulldogs to a KVAC B win over the Eagles in South China.

Connor Martin added a pair of goals for Lawrence (1-2). Caleb Tyler and Josh Reed each scored twice for Erskine (0-4).

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

COLBY 12, BATES 1: Tori Sansone and Syklar Labbe each had three hits and the Mules pounded out 18 in total in a rout of the Bobcats in Lewiston.

Julia Saul pitched all seven innings for Colby (13-15, 4-6 New England Small College Athletic Conference), allowing five hits and three walks while striking out six. She also helped her own cause with a pair of hits and an RBI.

Karen Lockhart had a double for Bates (5-30, 0-10 NESCAC).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

COLBY 11, BATES 6: Zach Ellenthal went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Soren Hanson drove in four runs as Colby racked up 13 hits against NESCAC rival Bates in Lewiston.

Tommy Forese scored four runs while Matt Garcia drove in two apiece for the Mules (11-18, 4-6 NESCAC). Will Cohen picked up the victory with 5 1/3 innings of strong relief. Brendan Fox knocked in two runs for the Bobcats (10-18, 2-7 NESCAC).
