NEWTON, Mass. — Sarah Zahoransky of Clinton, Maine, a veterinary technology major and Santander Scholar at Mount Ida College in Newton experienced civic engagement first-hand in a recent trip to Belize as part of the course Wildlife Conservation and Veterinary Medicine in Belize.
This week-long experience included an introduction to wildlife conservation projects in Belize and the role of veterinary professionals in such efforts. The students visited the zoo, participated in service learning experiences in a local Animal Health Clinic, learned about marine ecology while snorkeling, and visited a Mayan ruin.
