Unbelievable. I was astonished Rep. Jeff McCabe, D-Skowhegan, shared people’s private information on Facebook. We all hear often about the danger of identity theft, and a public official should know better.

Medical records and information are among the most strongly protected records people have, and it is not only inappropriate but dangerous for someone’s name, date of birth, and date of hospitalization to be publicized on the internet.

McCabe also had the gall to share a receipt with someone’s name, cell number, and a partial credit card number.

For McCabe to post these photos under the guise of helping clean up litter is shameful. If you’re trying to pick up litter, just do that, don’t try to brag about it and in the process put other people’s privacy at risk through public shaming and oversharing of information.

I’m sure I’m not the only on who expects better from our public officials.
