FARMINGTON — Mark Stofan, of Farmington, will be featured artist at an Open House Reception set for 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 3, at SugarWood Gallery, 248 Broadway, during Farmington’s First Friday Art Walk. The public is invited, refreshments will be served.

Stofan was born and raised in Farmington and worked for GE Aircraft Engines in Lynn, Massachusetts for more than 20 years as a structural design engineer. Some of the jet engine parts he designed are flying on the F18 Superhornet and on 70 seater commercial aircrafts. Since retiring to Maine he has advanced his skills in photography and digital graphic art.

He enjoys doing traditional photography but the creative side of him likes to add creative twists to the image. He says “photography and art have the power to evoke various feelings within and inspire us. It has been a learning process to offer various views and windows to the world.” Like most artists he is inspired by the beauty in nature and by powerful historical places such as Gettysburg and the Lincoln Memorial.

Whether experimenting in abstract graphic art or taking pictures of the real world he likes the creativity and challenge of the art world.

Stofan’s work will be on display throughout the month of June for the public to view and purchase.
