OAKLAND — Messalonskee High School standout senior pitcher Kirsten Pelletier was named the Gatorade State Softball Player of the Year on Thursday.
Pelletier led the defending Class A state champion Eagles to a 15-0-1 mark this regular season. She struck out 194 in 112 innings and posted a minuscule 0.25 ERA.
Pelletier also hit .367 with 14 RBIs and 16 runs scored in the regular season.
She has maintained a 92.7 average in the classroom as well.
The Gatorade Company annually recognizes players/athletes of the year in every sport. Winners are selected based on athletic and academic achievements. State winners are eligible for national player of year honors.
